Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning 1. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn every little thing he could about poker. He would tell his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not permit the negative feedback from other people destroy his dream of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

Phil began competing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed many of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his achievements. He knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and always aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a normal basis.
